Traffic congestion problem has been a commonplace in most major cities during peak time of the day. It has been shown that with frequent switching between moving and stop in crowded area, drivers become tired of watching the traffic situation and less patient, which results traffic accidents more frequently to happen. In this paper, wireless sensor network (VVSN) has been introduced to sense the traffic condition, then the best action of cars in each branch of the road can be worked out and sent to every car. Hence, the drivers can easily follow the instructions and drive with less pressure, which increases the traffic throughput of the road but also reduces the accidents. With more advanced techniques, this system can be an important part of autopilot system, which collects and processes the road traffic information, and schedule the movement of each car. A demonstration has been carried out with cars and road models, which show that the system can sufficiently schedule the road access, increase the traffic throughput.
