A rapid assessment of a 214 mile portion of the Sevier River in Utah was completed in 2009-2010. Remotesensing data, hydraulic models, and bankfull estimates were used to conduct assessments using the Stream VisualAssessment Protocol (SVAP2) and Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) tools. Predictions of Rosgen’s stream classificationand valley types using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) data were used with field verification and streamgage analysis. Stream order was a useful analysis tool to view the dynamics of the stream when large uncontrolled tributariesenter the system. Treatment priorities were derived from proper functioning condition ratings, trend, and geographiclocation. The use of geomorphic indices predicted through remote sensing, hydraulic modeling, and ecologic factors savedtime and allowed this comprehensive large scale stream assessment to be completed with limited resources.
