Evaluation of emulsified asphalt cold-recycling mixture's properties

The recycling of asphalt pavement not only can bring economic benefit but also protect environment. To meet base material performance needs, this study evaluated emulsified asphalt cold-recycling mixture's properties in order to apply it as flexible base material. Firstly, optimal asphalt content was decided by Marshall test and indirect pull test. Secondly, high temperature stability was evaluated by wheel rutting test. Finally, water stability was evaluated by modified AASHTO TO283 test. It is pointed that optimal asphalt content is 2.5%. At optimal asphalt content, dynamic stability is more than 3000 time/mm, and rudimental intensity is 97.39%. The results show that excellent intensity and stability of emulsified asphalt cold-recycling mixture make it feasible as flexible base material.
