Injecting CO2 into deep saline aquifers, gas fields and non-commercial mine is considered to be a safe and economically favorable means of storing CO2 captured from industrial point sources. The injected CO2 existing in the supercritical state can be stored for a long geological time by means of hydrodynamic sequestration, physical adsorption and mineral trapping. Here mechanisms, techniques and problems about CO2 geological storage were introduced and suggestions were made for research prospects of CO2 geological storage.
