To highlight the energy-saving feature of the integral device of fuming furnace and waste heat boiler(referred to as ¡°the fuming furnace device¡± for short) in the Shuikoushan lead smelting system (hereinafter referred to as SKS system) and to further develop its energy-saving potential, the exergy expenses, exergy loss and exergy efficiency are calculated and analyzed, and the energy-saving potential is also evaluated. The result indicates that: the primary exergy income of this fuming furnace device in SKS system is the exergy carried off by the steam flowing through the waste heat boiler, which accounts for 16.19% of the total exergy output, i.e. the energy-saving effect of the device in recycling waste heat is obvious. The irreversible exergy loss caused by combustion and heat transfer arising from temperature difference, et al. accounts for 58.21% of the total exergy, which could be reduced by increasing the steam temperature at the exit of the waste heat boiler, shortening duration of blast, reducing the consumption of bituminous coal, etc. The physical exergy of waste slag accounts for 6.75% of the total exergy, and once 50% of this part of exergy is recycled, 909.21 tons of standard coal can be saved annually.
