Like other urban centers in the United States, aging infrastructure in the Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) area is a fast-growing problem. Critical pipeline assets are reaching their service life, and pipeline condition assessments are becoming critical in order to gain additional years. Dallas County / Parks Cities Municipal Utilities District (MUD) has a 36-inch pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) that has been in service since 1950 with no recent condition assessment. The PCCP is a critical asset for Park Cities MUD since it is currently the only water supply transmission line for the Highland Park and University Park communities. As a result, the pipeline can only be taken out of service for short periods of time.Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM) was asked by Park Cities MUD to determine the condition of the 36-inch PCCP. The Pressure Pipe Inspection Company's (PPIC) PipeDiver tool was used to determine the condition of the PCCP while it remained in service. This paper will describe the pipe diver inspection; the process used by CDM to determine the condition of the line, and will give an update in regards to the design of the pipeline modifications.
