In late 2000th "IPTER" institute (Ufa, Russia) analyzed main causes of internal corrosion in gathering lines of a West Siberian oil producing enterprise. Here, actual failures were analyzed in connection with the working media composition. Analyzed were pipelines of three divisions entering the producing department which exploited two oil fields. The fields are in their late stage of development, and the average water cut is 76, 96 and 92 %. Total length of the pipelines is 340-380 km (varied with the time), the number of failures during three analyzed years is 626. Basing on the publications and results of chemical analyses of the pumped water and gas it was supposed that the main factor which influenced corrosion, could be the CO_2 concentration in the associated petroleum gas. To prove this supposition, retrospective data were gathered about CO_2 content at the oil and gas gathering station, and specific rate of failures was calculated for the period of 2005 - 2007.
