摘要

Fracture of holed wood plates at the connections of bolt or pin is one of the most difficult problems in wood engineering, because double uncertain factors, i.e., fastener-to-wood friction and wood fracture criterion, are simultaneously involved. In this research, a new testing method called circular-hole hydrostatic pressure test was introduced and the splitting failure was generated in the absence of friction in order to find the best fracture criterion. It was observed that the Hoffman's criterion is suitable to predict the fracture strength of the holed wood plates.
