This paper describes the following three points regarding with seismic mass: 1) Shaking table tests for furniture were executed to understand the relationship between its dynamic behaviour and effective mass, 2) Numerical model and its parameters to trace the results of the shaking table tests were defined, 3) To predict the response value of the wood-frame house, time history analysis was conducted to the 3-mass analysis model assumed two-story wood-frame house with the furniture element. The following findings were obtained: Effective masses of furniture were about 20-50% of real mass during the excitation. Meanwhile, the result of time history analysis was that the horizontal force given to the building has been generally reduced by the behaviour of furniture, and it was similar to the result when furniture (live load) was ignored.
