Surface of the multi walled carbon nanotubes was modified by purification with strong acid mixture followed by treatment with polyfethylene glycol) (PEG). PoJyfethylene terephthaJate) (PET) based conductive polymer composites were prepared with untreated and modified carbon nanotubes by using a twin screw extruder. Carbon nanotube characterization methods showed the formation of new functional groups on carbon nanotube surface after purification and chemical treatment. Surface modification of the carbon nanotubes increased the tensile strength of the composites.
