To investigate the effect of elastomeric snubber properties on the seismic response ofvibration-isolated nonstructural components, a numerical study is conducted on sixdifferent vibration-isolated nonstructural components mounted on the roof of sixdifferent buildings located in areas with different levels of seismicity. The dynamicmodel used for the numerical study considers the effects of thickness and hardeningof elastomeric snubbers. Transient dynamic analysis is conducted with an explicitstate-space approach to determine the response of the Single Degree-of-Freedom(SDOF) system representing the vibration-isolated nonstructural component under theaction of historic roof motions scaled to match with a target response spectrumdefined per the seismic design requirements of the IBC 2006 for nonstructuralcomponents.
