To investigate the effect of elastomeric snubber properties on the seismic response of vibration-isolated nonstructural components, a numerical study is conducted on six different vibration-isolated nonstructural components mounted on the roof of six different buildings located in areas with different levels of seismicity. The dynamic model used for the numerical study considers the effects of thickness and hardening of elastomeric snubbers. Transient dynamic analysis is conducted with an explicit state-space approach to determine the response of the Single Degree-of-Freedom (SDOF) system representing the vibration-isolated nonstructural component under the action of historic roof motions scaled to match with a target response spectrum defined per the seismic design requirements of the IBC 2006 for nonstructural components.
