Tension Control System without Sensor for Slitting Stainless Steel Strip into Wires

To solve the shortcomings of low cutting accuracy and curling edges of the traditional slitter. So the paper raised a tension control system without sensor on the basis of analyising process of the slitter. It realized the flexible adjustment of the cutting parameters. The materials went in and out of cutting rolls used servo motor constitutional main-secondary pulling mode. By controlling the difference of speed between the main-secondary pulling motor, it can indirectly control the cutting tension. It realized high-precision constant tension control without sensor. Curl axis motor adopt closed-loop of speed control system that was AC motor driving by invertor. Through the position sensor and roll diameter model to achieve the tension control of the winding process. This system is suitable for cutting stainless steel band of the thickness 0.15-0.35mm and the width of 45mm, cuts it into the narrowband of 2-4mm and the maximum cutting speed is 60m/Min. The actual operation proves that the new system has the advantages of high control precision, good cutting quality, stability and reliablity.
