In this paper, we analyze the possibility of an analytical solution of the inhomogeneous electrodynamics problem for a rectangular resonator with a dielectric plate located on the lower wall of the resonator under the by a single slit located on the upper wall of the resonator. Contrast to the lateral excitation method of the EM field from the rear wall of the resonator, the physical model of excitation of the EM field by means of surface sources is not applicable to the upper excitation method. In order to obtain an analytical solution of the inhomogeneous electrodynamics problem it is necessary to take into account the thickness of the radiating gap, by increasing the thickness of the radiating gap increases the microwave power entering the resonator.
