University buildings are diverse in population and use. Some buildings have cafe's and undergraduate classrooms in the same buildings as the nano research that uses hazardous gases. Toxic gas monitoring systems are exanding on university campuses and at times the toxic gas systems need to interact with the buiding's fire alarm system. This paper describes various types of toxic gas monitoring systems and how they interact with the buildings fire alarm systems. When you install a large or small toxic gas system and then interface it with a fire alarm system a formal process needs to be develop and various parties need to be involved. This paper will describe Harvard Universities system for interfacing a TGMS with a FAS and vice versa.
