In order to measure the velocity of bullets, a photoelectric target design methods based on laser is put forwarded. When the ordinary photoelectric target work, firelight or ambient light will bring an error trigger signal or cannot capture the shot off target signal. These may affect accuracy and sensitivity of the system. To obtain more accuracy and stable results, this system used the large effective screen area technology. So this way can solve the problems of no responding and cannot getting signals. CPLD is used in signal processing unit. And signal enlargement, pulse triggering, triggering time is completed in it. Light shunttors and collimators have been used to form three light-meshes. Each mesh has seven light beams. The velocity of projectile can be calculated by using times of light beam shunt off by projectile and intervals of light-meshes. The testing section of system is 100mm×100mm, testing range is 50∼4000m /s, measuring error is less than 0. 1%.This system has been successfully used to measure several kinds of projectiles'' velocity.
