Development of a New Climate Zoning for Passive Design in Indonesia

1. We proposed a new climate zoning for Indonesia, whichclassify the country into four clusters based on the tendifferent climate elements. The new classification resultedin a similar zoning with the Koeppen climate classification.2. The analysis of cumulative density functions furtherrevealed that the detailed weather patterns largely varyacross the country despite the same climate, i.e. tropicalclimate.3. We attempted to propose several “potential maps” forpassive cooling techniques for Indonesia. This will helpdesigners to find appropriate passive cooling techniques forspecific sites.
