DEVELOPMENT OF 3D MODEL BASED APPLICATION FOR CREATING STABILITY DOCUMENTS SUPPORTING STATUTORY RULES

Ship design is getting into higher levels year by year while the design cycle is getting shorter and requirements such asstatutory rules and design conditions are getting more complicated. In this circumstance, the enhancement of efficiencyof ship design and its approval have becoming more important.ClassNK have developed an application called “ClassNK Manager” together with Napa Group. The application willsupport ship designers carry out statutory compliance calculations based on NAPA 3D model and create Intact/DamageStability Booklets and Loading Manuals for Bulk Carriers and Tankers.The application is designed as “Easy to Use” which means that the user can start using it without deep knowledge of thesoftware. This was realised by using NAPA Manager technology together with the expertise of Primeship-IPCAsoftware which is the 2D based statutory calculation software developed by ClassNK.Thanks to data security functionality in the application, it is possible to exchange data between ship design offices andthe Classification Society while maintaining strict data security. It is expected that efficiency of design and its approvalprocess will be enhanced by sharing information among the parties.This paper describes the overview of the developed application “ClassNK Manager”, which can be used both in shipdesign and its approval.
