KAZAKHSTAN'S SPACE POLICY PERSPECTIVES

The space age gained its start from Baikonur in Kazakhstan in a period of intense technical and social competition between east and west, represented by the Soviet Union and the United States. Competition resulted in the Soviet Union being the first to launch a satellite into Earth orbit in 1957.In 90-s, as cold war was over, the international commercial launch industry became very competitive sector of space activities, and the Baikonur Cosmodrome became a launching site for a large number of robotic and manned missions and commercial satellites and providing a significant part of global space services (Omarova, and Omarova, 2006).
