Generally, the forming and developing of rural settlements are spontaneous and lack of uniform planning, so most villages are confused in composition with large occupy area, and are extensive in land use. At present, while villages and towns in the prosperous Pearl River Delta being constructed rapidly, extensive land use of villages and towns goes against the development of rural economy, including in the mix and mess of residential area and industrial lands, scattered layout, and following difficulty for future construction and renewal. Inadequate infrastructure equipment caused by extensive land use is one of an important reason for the widespread emergence of environmental pollution in villages and towns. This paper had an evaluation study, with the help of Geography Information System (GIS), on intensive land in villages and towns of the prosperous Pearl River Delta. It coordinated the construction land in urban and rural area based on the principle of intensive land use, and probed into planning and construction modes of balance village integration and resources protection under the background of urbanrural integration. Besides, the paper took some villages in Pearl River Delta for instances, built an evaluation index system on land intensive use supported by GIS technology and proposed some reasonable suggestions on the layout adjustment and optimization for their residential area.
