PSEUDO 3D PARTICLE IMAGES RECONSTRUCTION FROM MULTIVIEW IMAGES IN ONLINE WEAR DEBRIS ANALYSIS

摘要

Existing three dimensional (3D) images of wear debris particles has been largely dependent on sophisticated and expensivemicroscopy such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM). Since the equipment requires wear debris sample preparation for image capturing, it limits the ability of the methods for online conversion. In addition, the methods allow the image capturing of only the top surface of the wear debris without looking at the other side of debris surface. This paper proposes the use of optical microscopes which do not require sample preparation of the wear debris and has the potential for capturing the particle images online. In addition, it also recommends the control of the sample flow to enable the particles to be rotated while flowing. Simultaneously, multi view images of a particle can be captured during the rotation. The collection of the different angle images will be used to reconstruct the pseudo 3D images. The constructed 3D images could be used to identify the shape and to measure particle dimension at different angle for further diagnosis of machinery health.
