Simulation of heavy load traffic based on actual traffic measurements

In the last years a software-tool for simulation of heavy load traffic and its effects on bridges wasdeveloped by the chair of traffic facility structures at the Bauhaus-Universit?t Weimar/Germany andis currently used for student education and research. The program essentially consists of threemodules. In the first module traffic streams are simulated based on statistic distribution functions.The second module is used for the calculation of the effects of the simulated heavy load traffic onbridges (forces, bending moments, deformations). In the third module of the software-tool, thecalculation results are analysed statistically and put out for further analyses. Essential functions ofthe program are explained in this paper and carried investigations by using actual trafficmeasurement data are shown in extracts. Finally objectives of the necessary further development ofthe software-tool will be pointed out.
