Hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers (SEBS) make very good blends with polypropylene and provide good impact improvement down to -20 to -30°C. There are two approaches to achieving good clarity. New conventional SEBS block copolymer compounds can be added to polypropylene to achieve good clarity and low temperature impact. The second approach involves a new family of block copolymer compounds with an enhanced rubber segment (ERS) which is more compatible with polypropylene. The result is a submicron dispersion of thermoplastic rubber which does not scatter light. The ERS family of SEBS elastomers has the added feature of reducing blushing/whitening with impact.
