Nowadays the treatment of biomass to produce methane gas for energy production is getting more and more popular due to the increasing primary energy costs. There are now a couple of processes available for the methanization of biomass. Also different sources of biomass, like corn, wooden chips or food waste will now be treated.Putzmeister Industrial Technology ( PIT ) has experiences with the transportation of biomass for more than 20 Year. The unique design of these pumps makes it possible in this process to pump any kind of various biomass material which are contaminated with foreign particles, like knives, spoons, bottle-caps, glass which dramatically disturb the fermentation process dramatically.With the hydraulically driven piston pumps, the bio-waste treatment process guarantees the fermentation of the biomass with reduced life-cycle costs compared to other transportation system, furthermore Putzmeister developed together with the German engineering company Finsterwalder Umwelttechnik a process to separate foreign particles during the pumping into the fermentation.
