The magnetorheological(MR)damper is a promising semi-active device for vibration control systems in that MR fluids can provide controllable damping force.It is a critical task how to adjust controllable damping force by updating the command current of MR dampers,which decides the control effective of systems with MR dampers.This paper proposes a fuzzy control strategy based on a neural network forecasting model(NNFM)for structures with MR dampers.A NNFM is developed to predict system dynamic response,and a fuzzy controller is then designed to determine the command current of MR dampers.A fivefloor steel structure with MR dampers using the proposed control strategy is modeled and simulated by using Simulink.Simulation results are compared with those of the bi-state control system and the uncontrolled system.Analysis results demonstrate that the fuzzy control strategy is an effective control method for systems with MR damper.
