The Influencing Ways of NGOs on Corporate Social Responsibility Actions

摘要

This paper analyzes several ways that NGOs impact corporate social responsibility actions.The author believes that NGOs may impact corporate actions in the following ways: (1) using their global advocacy networks to monitor corporate activities,persuade targeting firms,influence the behavior of customers in the marketplace,(2) lobby governments,Multinational corporations (MNCs),and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) to develop international and national policy and standards about corporate social responsibility (CSR),and to supervise implementation;(3) establishing symbiosis with corporations. NGOs put international and national pressure on companies by the above ways and other approaches to force corporations to change their behavior and policy to meet the need of stakeholder including NGOs. From the perspective of multinational corporations,the emergence of NGOs,as one of important actors,presents both challenges and opportunities.
