Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) was awarded the contract of Superbird-7communication satellite from Space Communication Corporation (SCC). This is thebreakthrough for Japanese satellite manufacturer to get the contract of Japanese commercialcommunication satellites which had been occupied by US satellite manufacturers. Thecommercial communication satellite is a severe market and requires competitive performance,price, delivery schedule and reliability. MELCO has been making effort to be a systemcontractor of commercial satellite including, investment for the satellite integration andtest facility, development of standard bus DS2000, and standardization of design,manufacturing and test and activities to assure 100% success of the satellites.
