Suspension plasma spraying (SPS) is of great interest for therealization of thin nanostructured coatings. The thermokineticphenomena involved in the SPS process, from theplasma/liquid interaction to the growth of the coating aredifficult to forecast and experiment. The present work focuseson the 3D simulation of an Ar-H2 (45-15 slm) plasma jetissuing into ambient air. A large eddy simulation modelaccounts for turbulence and provides us with the instantaneoustemperature and velocity fields of the plasma flow. The resultsobtained with the CFD library AQUILON are compared toexperimental ones as well as previous simulations realizedwith a commercial software.
