This article demonstrates how a threaded discussionis a powerful collaborative learning tool for asynchronousonline courses.First let’s define what a threaded discussion is andwhat it is not. Discussion threads are written“discussions” online. Technology Enriched Learning(online)1 provides this definition:“Threaded Discussion: A form of electronicconferencing which functions like an electronicbulletin board, threaded discussions are electronicmessages that are posted, archived, and viewable on aweb site. Discussion participants can view bothprevious and current messages and respond to themin an asynchronous manner (i.e. not in real time).”
