VT2-A NEW CVT FOR STANDARD AND HYBRID FRONT WHEEL DRIVEN CARS

This article describes how a new CVT for small passenger cars – the VT2 - has been developed for a standard and a hybrid powertrain application - mainly by developing a completely new hydraulic and electronic control system and by implementing new control strategies. By doing so, its reaction times have been optimised in order to allow for acceptable restart times after idle stop. In addition, its efficiency, its driving strategy and driving behaviour have been improved in a way that the customer acceptance will be even higher than before.
