Tailoring of YSZ Powders to Meet Fixed Process Windows,Parameters and Properties for Land Based Turbine Applications

In a joint development project, TACR GmbH1 and H.C. StarckGmbH2 took an approach to adjust the properties of anagglomerated and sintered YSZ powder to a process setupoptimized for a HOSP type powder. Within the OEMapproved process parameters, which could be changed withinnarrow limits only, the particle size distribution of theagglomerated and sintered powder was adjusted to meetprocess parameters and spray setup. Key parameters for thecomparison of coating properties and spray behavior werecoating porosity and deposition efficiency (DE).
