EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DURING MARITIME TRANSPORT OFNUCLEAR AND RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS

摘要

The maritime transport of radioactivity creates insecurity and uncertainty for people relyingon the sea. This paper discusses the maritime transport of radioactive materials and thepossible effects of an accident. The paper highlights the need for international regulationsregarding the early notification of accidents in international waters and improved co-operationbetween the relevant international organisations, in particular regarding notification andassistance in response to emergencies during maritime transport of RAM.
