Does Our Prestack Data Support the Assumptions of Prestack Imaging and Inversion?

The earth is heterogeneous at all scales. Our seismic reflection data is the result of waves that have traveled up and down through many heterogeneous layers. The data distortion caused by this is not corrected by current processing techniques and invalidates many of the assumptions we use interpret it. We have developed a method to image through severely distorting overburden by placing geophones under it.
