The bar element with equivalent elastic modulus that based on the updated largerange description can also take account of the stiffening effect of large displacement. For continuous cable there are three conditions in nonlinear finite element analysis. First is the node force balance of the whole structure, second is the continuous cable condition as we called, the third is the cable original length condition. A feasible algorithem is proposed in this paper for the analysis of continuous cable. Continuous cable analysis without taking accout of slippage may give rise to great error. At last we developed a nonlinear finite element program in visual C++6.0 and two examples are also presented to verify this method.
