Variational problems for finding the shapes of impermeable wing profiles in the plane-parallel steady subsonic flow of a viscous gas with large Reynolds numbers and maximum lifting force are solved numerically. The viscosity is taken into account in the boundary-layer approximation under conditions of continuous flow, while compressibility is allowed for in the context of the Chaplygin model of a gas. Examples of optimized profiles are given and numerical calculations are analysed.
