Vertical Random Vibration Analysis of Coupled Vehicle-Bridge Systems

In this article, a vehicle together with a bridge is regarded as an integrity system to establish the equations of motion. The excitations are divided into two parts: one is the deterministic load due to the gravity of the vehicles, which can be analyzed using a time integration scheme; and the other is the random excitation due to the roughness of the road or trail surface, which is dealt with using Pseudo Excitation Method (PEM). Numerical results demonstrate some characteristics of this kind of motion. The research work has laid down a preliminary foundation for the random vibration analysis of much more complicated coupled systems.
