Notwithstanding the popularity and relative success of Rock Mass Characterization methods there are fundamental differences in their theoretical and empirical foundations, data acquisition methodologies as well as required effort and time for analysis. This paper compares the results obtained from extensive structural data collection campaigns and characterization from five Canadian hard rock mines sites. Based on the collected data and analysis, correlations are noted between selected geomechanical structural parameters. Of interest is not only the recognised correlations but also the absence of statistically correlations between parameters that claim to quantify similar structural properties of the rock mass.
