XPS, ToF-SMS and IR-VASE have been used to follow the chemical changes occurring at the surface of PDMS elastomer subjected to an air plasma treatment. The presence of silanol has been confirmed by SIMS. An adhesion procedure described in the literature has been used to probe the effect of plasma treatment on the surface of silicone rubber. Results indicated the presence of two concurrent processes that lead to adhesion.
