The electromagnetic wave theory of Schelkunoff has been studied. The condition of energetics and the reaction mechanism on depositing Ni-P alloy are investigated. Moreover, the modified textile possessed of the duplex characterization of absorbing and shielding effectiveness property is prepared by electroless coating. By analyzing three kinds of modified textile on both respects of microscopy and characterizations testing, the preparation conditions of the multifunctional and modified textile are put forward. The mol ratio of Ni/sup 2+/ to H/sub 2/PO/sub 2//sup -/ in the electroless Ni-P alloy coating solution directly influences the phosphorous proportion in the modified layer of textile. There are three frequency bands are studied in this paper: 30 MHz/spl sim/1000 MHz for SE, 12 GHz/spl sim/18 GHz and 100 kHz/spl sim/1.5 GHz for AE. The maximum of corresponding results are -80 dB (SE) at 265 MHz, -24.67 dB (AE) at 15.2 GHz and -12.28 dB (AE) at 435.1 MHz respectively.
