Structure and fretting wear resistance of electron beam remelting CoCrW coating

(1) Through electron beam remelting treatment, oxide inclusions, porosity and lamellar structure of original plasma spraying CoCrW coating have been eliminated. Non-homogenous structure of CoCrW spraying coating transferred to homogenous structure of remelting coating. The microstructure of remelting coatings was very fine and uniform. The metallurgy bonding could be achieved between remelting coat- ing and substrate. (2) Fretting wear resistance of CoCrW remelting coating was respectively 13.3 times of original plasma spraying coatings and 5.1 times of K417 nickel alloy substrate. The reason for improvement of fretting wear resistance is that owing to improvement of structure remarkably improved the capability to resist in nucleation and propagation of fatigue cracks.
