The successful engineering, design, construction, and startup of the new Knoxville melt shop project, now over one year old, continues to be a source of pride and achievement within AmeriSteel Corporation. The decisions to be our own general contractor, separate the construction into bid packages, and handle a large portion of equipment procurement in-house, have proven to be sound. Without these decisions, our aggressive construction and commissioning schedule would have been extremely difficult to meet, especially given our budget constraints. Additionally, the time and money invested in training was returned virtually immediately upon commissioning the new melt shop.
