The successful engineering, design, construction and startup of the Knoxville melt shop project continues to be a source of pride and achievement within AmeriSteel.The successful engineering, design, construction and startup of the new Knoxville melt shop project, now more than 1-year-old, continues to be a source of pride and achievement within AmeriSteel. The decisions to be our own contractor, separate the construction into bid packages and handle a large portion of equipment procurement in house have proven sound. Without these decisions, our aggressive construction and commissioning schedule would have been extremely difficult to meet, given our budget constraints. Additionally, the time and money invested in training was returned virtually immediately upon commissioning of the new melt shop.
