Utilisation of a process improvement framework (PIF) within small to medium sized enterprises

Business Process Reengineering involves fundamental rethinking and radical redesign of business processes to achieve dramatic improvement in critical, contemporary measures of performance such as cost, accuracy and time. With rapid advances in information technologies, in particular Electronic Communication Technologies, many organisations are now trying to use new technologies, for example, fax, electronic mail and electronic data interchange to make themselves more successful. This paper will describe how the introduction of electronic communication technologies have been introduced in several real life business case studies to assist in reengineering of business processes so as to achieve improvement in time and accuracy performance. This work constitutes part of a research project conducted at the University of Wolverhampton into Electronic Communication Technologies and its influence on Business Process Reengineering.
