Promoting Change and Collaboration at The University of Kansas

The path to a new groupware system at The University of Kansas began with an expressed need for a common email directory, a simple way to send and read attachments, and a way to provide easy access to email for mobile users. From these original modest requirements, expectations expanded to include a fully-functional collaboration program that could enhance efficiency and communication between faculty, staff and students. This presentation highlights many aspects of making this project a success, from planning, to installation, training, and usage. We will also discuss aspects that were very successful and pitfalls encountered. We will present information about the human resources necessary to complete a project of this scope, as well as the ongoing challenges we face. Although this university case study presentation is about Microsoft Exchange (Exchange), we highlight activities and concepts important for any major software transition project.
