In this study, some figures are presented on the presence of a home computer, frequency of computer use and computer tasks among a large group of secondary school children in Belgium. In particular, relationships have been sought between the variables mentioned above and two demographic variables: gender and cultural background. In correspondence to previous studies, differences between boys and girls in the field of computing remained visible. Figures on cultural background differences in computing were less pronounced than gender differences, but still apparent.
