Previous studies from our group have shown that proteins such as bovine serum albumin (BSA), ribonucleas A, and lyosozyme, encapsualted in poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) cylindrical implants form insoluble non-covalent aggregates during release due to an acidic microclimate, and the aggregation can be inhibited by neutralization of the acidity in the polymer iwth 3
