Development of DELTA~12 prostaglandin J_2 as a New drug for bone regeneration

摘要

Periodontal disease is a major oral health concern in the ageing population, and is the primary cause of tooth loss in adults. It is mainly due to a bacterial infection, and its major outcome is the progressive destruction of periodontal tissues and bone supporting the teeth. The loss of supporting structure may compromise tooth function, as well as the outcome of implant therapy. Many surgical procedures have bene designed to promote bone regeneration, but agents stimualting the growth of new bone would have great theraputic potential.
