Motorbikes have become a widely acceptable form of transport and there have been several attempts to produce "covered in", weatherproof motorbikes. These would in theory combine the benefits of motor bikes with the comforts of motor cars. The usual approach to this problem is to introduce a mechanised foot stand to keep the vehicle upright when it stops. Early in the 20th century there were several attempts to produce two wheeled vehicles which were stabilised by gyroscopes and also a range of gyroscopically stabilised trains running on monorails were developed. In both cases successful prototypes were produced.
