Novel approach to color cast detection and removal in digital images

Abstract: Digital Still Camera images often have undesired colorcasts due to unusual illuminant sources. This paperdescribes a novel color correction technique that usesadaptive segmentation techniques to identify thepresence of such casts, estimate their chromaticstrength, and alter the image's near-neutral colorregions to compensate for the cast. The segmentationmethod identifies most major objects in the scene andtheir average color.!15
