This paper presents a novel concept for low temperature curing powder coatings. The coating resins are based on hyperbranched polyesters onto which poly( #epsilon# -caprolactone) ( #epsilon# -PCL) have been grafted and the hydroxyl groups at the chain ends have been functionalized with methacrylic anhydride. The resulting semi-crystalline powder coating resins form smooth films at 70 deg C and exhibit good storage stability at room temperature. Crosslinked films were prepared by melting the powder on glass plates and subsequent UV-curing at elevated temperature. No trace of residual unsaturation was found after UV-curing (500 mJ cm~(-2).
